Individual Women

diversity at work

Many women have the ideas and ambition to become successful entrepreneurs but are held back by barriers such as lack of access to business skills and support networks. A resounding theme from senior female leaders, who have successfully broken through the barriers, was that encouragement and support from mentors (whether formal or informal) played a key role in helping them achieve their potential and ambitions.

As a mentor Jeannette has supported and empowered female colleagues, direct reports and clients to unlock, explore and achieve their full potential. Indeed, as a direct result of Jeannette’s interventions, many of her ‘mentee’s have graduated on to executive board-level positions.

A mentor helps the mentee become what she aspires to be and realise her potential.

“I enjoyed working for Jeannette for the past 2 years at Saga and would not hesitate to recommend her. Her energy and drive, combined with her strong leadership skills and industry knowledge make her a highly effective business leader… She has been a great inspiration and mentor to me personally and has helped me develop and grow in confidence.”

“I met Jeannette through the Plan B Leadership Mentoring Programme launched by UK Hospitality, Odgers Berndtson and BT Sport in 2019 to increase the number of women in senior leadership within the hospitality sector. Even in our initial conversation I was so struck by how open Jeannette was about sharing her own experiences and offering practical and motivational advice – and felt very lucky when she became my mentor earlier this year.

For me, the value of a mentor is to be able to have open conversations and be both encouraged and challenged by someone who has a different perspective without any fear of judgement. Clearly fantastic mentors can be both men and women but the reality is that in certain industries there just aren’t many women at the top and if you can’t see it, you might not think you can be it.

Jeannette is someone who is a real trailblazer in her career and yet at the same time so generous with her time to help others. Her vision, energy and passion is infectious and Jeannette’s genuine desire to be a real cheerleader for women to fulfil their potential is an amazing quality. Each mentoring session is a very honest and open forum where I feel listened to, challenged on my thinking in a constructive way, encouraged and I always leave feeling energised and with a different perspective on the points we’ve discussed.

Jeannette has introduced me to a number of people in her network, shared practical tips based on her own experiences and really encouraged me to try out new ways of thinking to support me in the transition from a functional to a business leader. Jeannette is a real inspiration and I feel very lucky to have benefited from her mentoring support!”

“I had the pleasure of having Jeannette Linfoot as one of my guest speakers at my Business Networking event held at Santander Kingston Branch. Jeannette shared 25 years worth of experience and knowledge she had acquired as a CEO in the travel industry.

During the presentation Jeannette shared her journey in becoming who she is today. Her experience and knowledge makes her an amazing motivational speaker who can truly engage with the audience with her energy and drive.

I would highly recommend Jeannette as an inspirational speaker and an extremely effective business mentor who you can relate to.”
